Product Update – November 26, 2018 – Database Architecture

I hope you all in the U.S. had a great Thanksgiving holiday.

Recent Updates

Database architecture. From a user perspective, our recent work might feel a bit boring or irrelevant. That’s because most of it is happening on the back end, where we’re making the way that bookings happen more flexible. This will enable a number of the features y’all have requested, and which we’ve been talking about for a while, such as:

  • Work spaces for different types of users, e.g. students, professionals, and work styles, e.g. video on/off, sound on/off
  • Blocking
  • Favorites

Educational onboarding video. New users are now greeted with a video tutorial showing how to join and conduct a Focusmate meeting.

You can watch the video below.

Planned Updates

This is work planned for the week of November 26th-December 3rd, 2018.

Migration from old system to new system. While there are a number of tasks we’re working on, the upshot is that we’re setting up the new, flexible database architecture to run alongside the old one for about a week, to make sure it’s working. This also requires hooking up the new system to ancillary tools like calendar invites and emails.

  1. I’m excited for the different kind of work spaces. Any way I can join the beta and gain access to features early to give feedback? Keep up the great work as always. Thank you for working thru the holidays
